From the Editor:

Electroid Zine has been out for a couple of weeks:
http://undergroundrecords.org/electroid

I'm finishing up the Underground Sound, and am taking ads for
both Joint and Hellzine....

I have given up on a schedule...now since I'm going out
on the road in early summer after the first System X gigs here,
this ezine will be the only thing consistently close to on time....
Get over it...I have.

If you see a System X show ad, be there, we'll rock your
world. Our first album "Priests Of God" will be out in the
Spring.

It's all Rock n Roll......

DID EVERLAST GET WHIPPED?

Everlast's feud with Eminem has taken a more serious turn.
Details are sketchy right now, but reports are coming in from
our representatives in Detroit, stating that when Everlast
took to the stage at St. Andrews Hall (Friday Feb.2, 2001),
he was allegedly speaking ill of Eminem, which probably isn't
the smartest thing to do in Em's hometown. According to our
sources, Everlast was chased off the stage and several band
members were beaten.

An ambulance was waiting outside to tend to the wounded. We
will keep you updated as this story unfolds.

DHR COMPILATION

Digital Hardcore Recordings (home of ATARI TEENAGE RIOT, ALEC EMPIRE
and EC8OR) announces the creation of a compilation of UNSIGNED
Digital Hardcore style bands primarily from the U.S.! That's right,
here's your chance to send in a demo, and possibly get your track on
a comp to be released and nationally/internationally distributed by
DHR.

Basic ground rules:

1) Demos must be submitted no later than March 31st 2001.

2) All demos must be submitted on CDR and must be playable on
regular CD players. Should a track get picked it will be taken
directly from the CD so don't send in any "rough mixes" and make
sure that the disc is not copy protected. GIVE US THE BEST SOUNDING
STUFF. If you send mp3's via e-mail they will not be downloaded! We
don´t have the time to "go to MP3.com to hear your stuff" so don't
even try it. If you want to be considered for involvement send the
hardcopy. Make sure that you have copywrite and/or clearances to any
and all material you use in compositions.

3) Tracks must be at least 1:30 minutes in length.

4) Do not send us, hard rock, metal, goth industrial, pop or any
other kind of music. You will be wasting your demo, as the CD will
probably get trashed. If you want to know if you´re material fits
the DHR style check out samples @ http://www.mp3.com/dhr. Chances
are if you´ve never heard of artists like Atari Teenage Riot,
Merzbow and John Zorn this compilation is not for you. Hardcore
breakbeat and and TRUE underground rap (i.e. .Company Flow, The
Arsonists etc.) will also be considered.

5) Bands, DJ's and artists from the US only! (Actually, if you are
from somewhere else in the world and you think you're stuff is THAT
GOOD give it a shot but nothing is definite).

6) We are especially partial to bands, DJ's and artists that can
(and do) play live as well, but that is not a pre-requisite. We want
to include people who work hard, act professional and want to
promote the spread of digital hardcore/noise music.

7) AND FOR THE FINAL BIGGEST GROUNDRULE OF ALL:

If you call, e-mail and/or generally bug DHR,
YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Send in your demos and be pros about the
final results. If you want a verification of the receipt of your
demo, send a SASE with your package and we´ll notify you when we get
it.

You can go to http://www.mp3.com/dhr concerning any other rules and
info. It will be updated regularly. You can also check out the
official site at http://www.digitalhardcore.com. If you aren't a
musician but know someone who is unsigned, and making digital
hardcore music make sure you tell them to get a demo submitted.

            Send demos to:
Digital Hardcore Recordings

NEW METAL

======
Embers - Online Metal Magazine will expand soon.
A Demo-section will be added; in addition to the normal
four weekly reviews, bands from the underground can get
promoted on Embers as well. Each featured band will
be given a short interview, an extensive review and
(if present) a link to their HomePage.

Bands can choose which members of the Embers' team should
do the review. These four members of the Embers team will
take on the Demo-reviews: Lycanthrope, Isildur, Aerath and Nazgul.

Embers is located at http://www.embers.nu
Please contact us for more information at aerath@embers.nu

Please add style of music, which reviewer you would
like to do the review of your Demo, and a link
to your HomePage if present.

LA .... Again

Go see this band if you live in the LA area. A Combination of Galactic
style "space porn" funk and a techno-ish beat. Amazing live. And a
great bunch of guys as well.

(ed note: definitely a great bunch of guys....)

Knitting Factory Still Rulin'

I stopped in at The Knitting Factory last night to get a dose of
funk. I didn't know what to expect or what the lineup might be. I got
there around 10 for an advertised 10:30 show. As usual, the time that
the world of 'P' uses is just a little bit later than the rest of us.
I used this extra time to mix, mingle and meet some of the funkier
people on the planet. DR Brookenstein was there wearing an Alien Top
Hat snapping photos and jotting down notes. Mr. Groove Maneuvers
Himself was there and we discussed the funk. Stozo was there, and as
promised he handed out a souvenir. Mr. Stozo also introduced me to two
of the more stunning and beautiful P. Funk singers, Sheila & Shonda.
Thanks for that Mr. Stozo.
Somewhere around midnight they opened the doors and we walked
into the main room where a half dozen or so Rastas were beating drums.
It was both hypnotic and rhythmic at the same time. They grooved on
until about 12:30 when Drugs hit the stage.
So you wonder what Drugs sounds like, and if they are any good?
Well, the literally blew me away. I always said that when Garry Shider
has his hands on a guitar great things usually happen. Well, Garry
had the guitar on all night long. Of course he sang ballads and doo
wop too. But he never let go of the guitar. Andre Foxxe was smoking
also. It was great to hear him step it up and be a main player. He
was awesome. Lige Curry was the bass man, and the perfect one for
this band. Lige has a great talent for playing bass in a heavy
rock/funk atmosphere. Clip held the band together with his
conducting, singing, and refereeing. There were some other non P.
Funk musicians in the group. I apologize for not knowing there names.
There was a very lovely female singer who was just superb. Two
additional guitarist, one of whom wrote one of the songs they played,
and a drummer. The drummer was just indescribable. This dude was
the surprise of the evening. Don't get me wrong the other two guitar
players were flawless, but this drummer made you sit up and take notice.
The Drugs sound is kinda hard to pin down. Were they funky?
Yeah they were. Were they rock & roll? Yeah they were R&R. Were
they bluesy? Yes, they played the blues. Were they heavy metal?
Yes, they did that too. Were they P. Funk? You could detect they
were from the 'P,' but not actually the 'P.' They were simply an
awesome blend of all of the above. They created a swaying bluesy
rock funk mix that penetrated your body and soul, captured your
brain and nervous system allowing feelings of psychedelia to fill
your being. I guess I truly was on Drugs last night. It was nice
to trip again. This time it was legal.
Hey Clip. If you are going to come back, come back soon. If
you are not coming back soon, please share your stash with the rest
of the Maggots of the universe. Who says a Drugs band can't play
.............Everything!!!

Dear Relations, Friends and Business Partners,

This is Wilko from HAMMERHEART RECORDS.

After several discussions, and a lot of thinking we
decided to stop with all sub
labels from Hammerheart Records,
(The Plague, Well of Urd and Unveiling The Wicked).
From now on we will continue
only as HAMMERHEART RECORDS.

It doesn't mean I'll cancel my whole release schedule
for this year. No way,
all planned releases on The Plague will be released on
HAMMERHEART RECORDS now.

This way we can give all our release the best attention
we can.
My last release on The Plague will be MANGLED-
"Most Painful Ways"
(CD/ Gatefold LP, Plague015).
Release date: 26-03. Promo CDs are shipped.

If you have any questions regarding this subject,
don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
Thanks for your time and have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Wilko

THE MUSIC INDUSTRY MAFIA

Everyone can tell there is something very wrong with the
music industry, same bands, same songs, same labels every -
where. Sure, the fat cats in the industry say that's because
those bands are the best, and all of us "others" just aren't
good enough to be "signed" to a major label.

THAT IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT!

The Music Industry Mafia uses things such as compulsory
licensing, payola and other forms of racketeering to make
sure the media and music outlets have their stuff out front,
and in many cases, the ONLY stuff you'll hear or see...

It's true, and it is the biggest embarrassment of law
enforcement in the US, and a shame everyone is so spoofed
by this mafia.

JOIN THE INDIE ARMY!
