SYSTEM X - TECH CORE 1/97-5/97

I rent a pad down above Al's bar in Downtown LA. I luck up and get some spec time at Robert Rampley's Media Overkill studios. I start cutting this album alone for release on CD. I take a few of the songs from Hardcore, which was the original working theme for this record, and combine them with the best new material I have probably ever written. This album is a jewel, very original, very creative.

SEALED PAINTINGS 8/97

The last album of material I write before getting out of California. I had put together a couple of good bands, but everytime some shit would totally take my ass out. I had all my equipment stolen after a gig at the Whiskey, and the band I was in (First Version of System X) quit on me because they wanted to be the biggest band in a month and not even have to practice. This LP was based on alot of solitary jams with me, a guitar, and a Marshall 25 watt practice amp run through my Electro-Harmonix Micro Synthesizer, the only equipment I have left!

TODD WEST - PURE LEO 9/97

The first album I complete after returning home from California. I drove all the way from LA to Adairsville in a $300 Toyota Tercel, without a license, insurance, or a tag. I had no choice, I missed my son too much to put up with the disaster Cali had turned out to be....fucked up bands, poverty and bad luck...but I had a great time! The ride home was definitely one for the books! I got stopped in Louisiana, and the law let me go! The music reflectsa really heavy time as I jammed at the small studio I had put together solo while I worked out the music for these songs over a span of a couple of months.
